Abstract [en]
Infinite Picnic investigates the spontaneous formation of temporary structures in public space, using the picnic as a metaphor for gatherings that appear and disappear without fixed purpose or form. These structures are created through adaptable objects, enabling continuous reinterpretation and reappropriation of space. The project is grounded in artistic, hands-on research, where making and situating objects becomes the main method of exploration.
Rather than focusing solely on outcomes, the project values the process of making as a source of knowledge. This written reflection mirrors the non-linear, open-ended nature of the work through a fragmented and collaged structure. The theoretical framework is inspired by radical architectural movements like Superstudio and communal experiments such as Wheeler Ranch, which has been used to explore the theme of utopian gathering. The concept of Open Form help contextualize how the project’s objects are designed, while a discussion on waste supports the use of discarded materials.
