Abstract [en]

Through the use of animalistic material, old crafting techniques and interviews I haveinvestigated the relationship between human and nonhuman animals. A complex anddissonant relationship influenced by hierarchies amongst species. A disturbed balancewith negative consequences for the ecosystem. A relationship that has evolvedsignificantly during my lifetime which makes it urgent to analyze, communicate and change.

The material was provided to me by a huntsman. Parts of animal bodies considered tobe waste have been given to me during this project. A random selection of material Ichallenged myself not to turn down. By using it for jewellery and corpus I investigated away to pay my respect for a life once lived.

The time I spent refining the material made me confront my own attitude andhierarchies amongst animals. The diČerence between a pet, an animal with a namebred for meat and the anonymous herd of deer became brutally present and clear.Being so close to the source of the material made me aware of my own impact eventhough I did not pull the trigger. Facing the thin line between life and death made meunderstand my own responsibilities. That aČected how I value the material and how Itreasure the need for sustainability.
