Abstract [en]
This paper explores the role of “objects” in recording cultural identity, memory, and emotion through the creative interaction of material and immaterial elements, using ceramics as a medium. It aims to investigate the potential of ceramics to expand from a material medium into a “language” capable of conveying more multidimensional and contemporary narrative expressions through a combination of research and practice.
The paper is divided into four parts.
The Background Introduction part introduces my previous creative experiences and the background of this research, clarifying the significance of the discussion to me and its potential broader implications.
The first chapter examines the historical context of ceramics as a medium, analyzing art cases that demonstrate the interaction between material attributes and immaterial elements.
The second chapter reflects on the limitations of the process through specific case studies and my previous creative experiences.
And, the third chapter, responds to the questions by specific practical cases that raised in the third part. It explores my current reflection and experiment of the possibility of ceramics as a medium, to transcend traditional narrative boundary.
