In my PhD project Living Things – Design beyond Human Exceptionalism I am exploring and proposing everyday reconfigurations of human- nonhuman relations. In this paper I position my work in the context of non-anthropocentric design research. After discussing two recent research outputs I propose that something must be at stake for the human stakeholder(s) for design to do human-decentering work. I end by briefly outlining two such design approaches: Design against Speciesism and Ahuman Design.
