Abstract [en]

There are currently 300 foreign substances in our blood[1] that should not be there, and the count is increasing. Every day we are exposed to dangerous chemicals. We are exposed when we cover ourselves with body lotion, we take a dose when we eat out of our lunch box and take in some more on the sofa as we sit in front of the TV. They are everywhere in our homes and, as it stands; nobody knows exactly how they will affect us in the long run.

Humans need to be aware of this problem for it to become prioritised on the political agenda. Until we have safe, globally functioning chemical legislation, people need to know about the alternatives in order to opt out of the worst chemical culprits.

The focus of this project is on the kitchen items that comes into contact with our food. This is because it’s our mouth that presents the easiest access into our bodies for harmful chemicals.

This is an exhibition where visitors get to interact, experience and be educated on the chemical problem, with focus on dangerous chemicals in the kitchen. The exhibition will tour different locations around Sweden. The aim is to engage and encourage people into action to reduce the number of dangerous chemicals in their homes.
