Abstract [en]
By taking the example of tableware objects in connection with food- and eating-culture, I would like to investigate how manners, habits, moral-norms and moral-changes effect daily utility objects in my thesis MIND YOUR MANNERS. And also the other way round: how we are effected by these objects. The photographs STILL LIFE try to offer new perspectives on tableware objects and their use in everyday life. The user is not visible anymore and the objects themselves re-veal their independent existence. They let us draw conclusions about time and relations. Maybe the same object could tell different stories, depending on different circumstances. The table-installation PUT IT ON THE TABLE shows a circle of objects that fluctuate between archetypes and strange, unrelated new creations. What is the meaning of familiarity? To which objects can we relate and to which can we not? In a circle there is no hierarchy, there is no beginning nor ending.
