TOMHET: Att möta en rädsla
University College of Arts, Crafts and Design, The Department of Design, Crafts and Art (DKK), Textiles.
2013 (Swedish)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis [Artistic work]
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This project builds on a personal experience of emptiness from my childhood. It takes me back to the 1970s for the retrieval of a well-hidden fear that vibrates in the chest on a 5-year old. That feeling, I try to grab, bring back to the present and turn into a sculpture.

By studying the different ways of looking at the concept of emptiness in different areas and cultures, I explore the background to the abstract feeling of emptiness that scared me as a child. I also describe my work with the sculpture, and share my thoughts, inspiration, setbacks and doubts. There is no immediate hike from A to B but a rambling journey on a bumpy road, where I sometimes find the right way and sometimes get lost but never ceases to question my own assertions.
