Abstract [en]
Double edge Sword is a short documentary about the role of Internet and virtual sphere in
democratization. The film is trying to follow three different stories which are unified in one
point, the ambivalent roll of internet. An important part of the film presents the radical
changes in politics via public networking paves the way for public deliberation and
mobilization with a special reference to Iran’s the 2009 post-elections protest. After three
decades of suppression and silence, the Internet and social networking provided the people
with an impressing solidarity as a potentiality which flourished hope of the collapse of
dictatorship.
The other story followed in this documentary will show a completely different aspect of
the virtual world: the surveillance technology in virtual spheres. We are going to follow the
Nokia Siemens case. The scandal of one of the richest European companies which provided
Iranian regime with the technology of tapping and tracking. Our contacts with two attorneys
who did sue Nokia Siemens network are documented.
The third section of the project is about the Cyber-war. I try to analyze the activity of
Cyber-Jihadist and hackers by different documentations. The connection between Martyrdom
propaganda and virtual spheres is going to be a part of the work.
