Föreliggande rapport har två huvudsakliga delar. I den första beskrivs och diskuteras olika definitioner av begreppet Rum. I tillägg till rummet, vars beskrivning styrs av en fysisk avgränsning i en byggnad eller en volym, talas det här också om RUMMET som en sökt förklaring av den utsträckning i rummet som vi med längden på våra sinnens känselspröt tänks nå. Definieringen av Rumsbegreppet och diskussioner kring dessa, skapar sedan den kontext inom vilken nästa del av rapporten tar plats, nämligen formgivningen av en möbel. Fyra olika steg i brukandet av en möbel är det verktyg som beskriver förflyttningen av en möbel från ickebruk till bruk och därmed också från rum till RUM.

This text, that is the report of a master thesis, has two main parts. In the first part different definitions of the concept of Room or space are being described and discussed. In addition to the regular notions of space, that deals with building limitations or volymes, a searched explanation for our extension in space through the length of our tentacles of sense are being investigated. This first part of the text are then creating a context in which the second part of the thesis are taking place, that is the designing of a furniture. Four different steps in the using of a furniture are the tool that describes the transportation of a furniture from not being used to being used and from one kind of space to another.
