Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Folkets Hus in Hedesunda became the starting point for this project, which is about reactivating a public space. A prerequisite for me was to protect what has already been built and show the potential that the existing interior architecture already has. The history of the house has acted as the main reference and in close studies of the premises, existing elements have laid the foundation for the new interior.

My hope is that the work can contribute to knowledge about and the importance of taking advantage of the qualities of the existing buildings. Instead of outdated buildings being demolished, they can be reprogrammed and redefined and filled with new social possibilities. Through this kind of design methodology, we interior designers can save  many houses and save our resources.
