This is a project where I combine reflections on the act of collecting and storing with a study in tacit knowl- edge of analogue woodworking techniques. In an iterative process I repeatedly produce boxes and shrink pots, with each solitary item together forming a collection. By using craftsmanship and traditional handwork as a method, I explore how the intuitive work of the hand affect the design of the shrink pots. I designed and built a wooden cabinet to display and store the collection of boxes. A theme that has emerged in the work with both the cabinet and the boxes is the curiosity that is aroused when something is hidden. This essay aims to look at the importance of material knowledge and how it may affect the design process in the field of spatial design.
