In the 16th century, after the colonizers of the Andros Island destroyed the Caribbean pine forest, the night birds Tyto Pollens disappeared. But these long flightless owls are still very much present in the human’s mind, as they inspired the folklore of the vicious and mercurial creature known as Chickcharney.
