Abstract [en]
Research has shown that being outside increases the human body’s ability to recover and heal itself. In my work, I have studied the space outside of hospitals and found that you often find spatial structures made as designated smoking areas, with roofs and walls to shield from the weather. But where do you go if you don’t smoke? In my project, I look at spaces and objects as part of the healing process with the aim of creating space for the patients need for change of scenery, protection and peace of mind. It can function as a space where people can temporarily relieve themselves from the anxiety caused by the disease, the sterile hospital environment and the role of being a patient. Out here you can be yourself.
