Abstract [en]

This project stems from the concern to learn more about the species behind my favorite dishes and the curiosity to understand and question the actual relationship between humans and food. Our disconnection with nature is driving us closer to a dystopian reality and reminding us of the simplicity of life matters. Food is the primary source of human energy; it keeps us alive, and we have taken it for granted. Food systems and food consumption transformation are fundamental to global sustainable development. How is it possible – through design - to create alternative imaginaries of food consumption for an immediate [near mundane] future? In this project, Don’t forget to eat slowly; I propose a space to reflect, rethink, and revalue our relationship with edible species. Storytelling to create a contemporary food ritual where guests can experience the table and the species within a fictional scenario, a metaphor of human-nature negotiation. By inspiring in methods and theories of design fiction and experience design, I seek to engage people to imagine and change perspective for a moment, creating a space for an emotional connection between the edible species and humans, envisioning a future with a more profound sense of humanity, community, and empathy.
