Abstract [en]
While interested in the spatial readability, this project explores the spatial quality of a wall, and the possibility of this border element to become inclusive in hosting a meeting point. This wall is intended to stage the users into a time-related scenery, and create with that an interesting focal point that could exist in the collective memory of a locality experience, striving by that to the “emotional city” term used by Jane Jacobs.
This system of spatial technique has different rhythms achieved through analogue approach and different three dimensionalities toward the light source (in this case the light is the sun), where light and color are pronounced enough to make people aware of the effect this background element has on the emotional experience.
It is very common especially through the economic market of shops and retailers nowadays to enhance spaces by light qualities, which makes the light component a tool that could easily manipulate. In this wall case it is intended for this effect to be very pronounced, and by this, the Rhythmic Wall stands apart from the Modern Design approach where the designer becomes the prophet of the process, but rather this Rhythmic experience is a friendly suggestive component (that speaks to the user) that enhances the experience of the locality while creating as in Jane Jacobs “a focal point”.
