Abstract [en]

In my essay I'm presenting different parts of my master thesis: sculpture, my final installation at the spring exhibition, my workshops and my theoretical view. My master project is called Girls Club to underline the separatist benchmark. I'm focusing on artists that somehow work like me: with an interest for feminist arts and craft, and separatist spaces and occations. and also artists who combine this with craft in the same context. I've been reading and writing about Hannah Wilke and Judy Chicago, both women who come from the eary feminist wave in the 60's and 70's. Wilke and Chicago were both women who relatively early touched the feminist agenda and included that in their art work and artistry and who came out as controversial at that time. I'm also reading up on Swedish artist Jenny Grönwall and Therese Kristiansson, artists who strongly identifiy as feminists. Thom a craft point of view I'm interviweing crafts woman Åsa Jungnelius and looking in to a political and feminist craft exhibition from the 70's, that represents the above in a fair way. My theories in feminism and the separatist movement are well discussed here. I'm comparing both my theoretical and historical views on art with Wilke, Chicago, GrOnwall and Jungnelius and also my background when of comes to other political matters. I'm presenting my analysis on women separate occasions, the craft culture and the history and the aesthetics of the genre nib. For me. they all come together based on how these three cultures been given certain basic values, but from different places. I'm throrough in how I'm both making and writing history, because the history that doesn't belong to the current norm, doesn't write it self.
