The Folk parks in Sweden are a unique cultural heritage, both material, immaterial, historical, contemporary and not least as an architectural heritage for the future. At several locations in Sweden today, the Folk Parks are in disrepair. Dancing floors, theatres and other park buildings echoing emptiness and the number of visitors may be few. In other places, the parks are more vibrant than ever, and I have visited some of them. In my degree project, I have analysed the Folk Park as a phenomenon, through their history, architecture, interiors and as a public space in the city.

In my work, I highlight selected parts of a unique building culture. I have translated theory into practice, through artistic and spatial design. The result is a series of elements that aim to interact with each other and together form a whole.

The thesis consists of a written part and a creative part. 

Folkparkerna i Sverige är ett unikt kulturarv, både materiellt, immateriellt, historiskt och i vår samtid. Samt inte minst som arkitektoniskt arv till framtiden. På flera platser runt om i Sverige står Folkparkerna idag i förfall. Dansbanor, teaterscener och övriga parkbyggnader ekar tomma och antalet besökare kan vara få. På andra platser är Folkparkerna mer levande än någonsin och jag har besökt några av dem. I mitt examensarbete har jag analyserat Folkparken som fenomen, genom historien, arkitekturen, interiören och som offentlig plats i stadsrummet.

I mitt arbete lyfter jag fram utvalda delar av en unik byggnadskultur. Jag har översatt teori till praktik, genom konstnärlig och rumslig gestaltning. Resultatet är en serie element som syftar till att interagera med varandra och tillsammans bilda en helhet.

Masteruppsatsen består av en teoretisk del samt en rumslig gestaltning.
